II.1.2) Type of contract and location of works, place of delivery or of performance:
Supplies.
Purchase.
Main place of delivery: Bargoed.
NUTS code: UKL .
II.1.3) The notice involves:
A public contract.
II.1.4) Information on framework agreement:
II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s):
WAG Transport Grant and WEFO Convergence funding will help fund the development of a new bus station at the northern part of Bargoed town centre.
As part of this contract a single supplier is being sought to design, build, deliver and install the bus shelter product. The single supplier should be able to meet all of these requirements and will not look to sub contract any part or element of this contract to a third party. The successful supplier under this contract will be named in a larger main contract as the sole supplier of the bus shelters to the bargoed scheme.
Consultants have been commissioned to design the new bus station so it acts not only as an efficient interchange facility but also as a northern entrance feature to the town; visuals of the consultant’s drawings/designs are available upon request. The client is looking for design solutions that are close in nature to those presented by the consultants.
Concept/preliminary designs presented by the consultants provide a clean, modern and functional structure that sits comfortably next to the proposed new retail development and existing railway station. The clean, modern design has been met with favour from the client team who are now tasked with determining if the design or similar can be built economically using a palette of readily available parts (that can be accessed easily from suppliers) to ensure its longevity.
The supplier must be able to demonstrate that the product will use quality materials, which will ensure that the bus shelter is both visually attractive but is also robust with a design life in excess of 25 years. The location for the product is in a particularly aggressive environment. The vulnerability of the structure is further exacerbated by the proximity of the sloping path located directly behind the location of the shelters.
In short the client is looking for the use of standard readily available components to provide a bespoke design solution in a cost effective manner. This product will sit on a recently installed footprint for the wider bus station, which includes a ramped access behind the shelters up to the town centre.
Companies are required to express an interest in receiving a pre qualification questionnaire at this stage of the procurement process. It is the intention of the Caerphilly County Borough as the lead Authority to apply selection criteria for this pre qualification questionnaire, which will then determine which successful suppliers will be invited to tender. Please note the weightings attached to the various sections are contained within the pre qualification questionnaire.
Pre qualification questionnaires will be issued up to the time limit for receipt of requests for documents.
